Showcasing Leaders for Change with Backbone CIC
We had the honour of partnering with Backbone CIC to document and elevate the powerful journeys within the Leaders for Change Training Academy (LFCTA). This project set out to challenge the status quo by supporting individuals from underrepresented, non-white ethnic backgrounds to take up space in the outdoor sector, not just as participants, but as leaders shaping its future.
Over a three-year period, we travelled across the UK to capture honest, human-centred stories from both grassroots participants and organisations engaging with the Academy. Our aim wasn’t just to document what was happening on the surface, it was to tell the deeper story of what it means to foster inclusion, challenge systemic barriers, and create sustainable, values-driven change within the sector.
By combining raw, emotive interviews with vivid imagery from on-the-ground events and training, we created a series of visual soundbites that told stories of struggle, progress and pride. From community leaders sharing how the outdoors became a space of healing, to organisations rethinking their internal structures to be more inclusive, these films are a window into the real-life impact of LFCTA.
We were proud to be more than just filmmakers, we were trusted collaborators in helping shape the legacy of this ambitious and necessary project. Through this partnership, we helped amplify the voices of people who are too often unheard and inspired broader conversations around belonging, access and leadership in the outdoor world.
